Cordâme is a very dynamic ensemble dedicated to the interpretation of Jean Félix Mailloux's compositions. Formed in Montreal in 2004, Cordâme explores the textures, timbre and sonority specific to strings and creates evocative music, rich in images, which easily transports us into mixed folklore. The ensemble has recorded 6 albums, including Lieux imaginés, winner of an OPUS prize in 2013, and several other finalists for various awards. Cordâme also performed with the Satie Variations tour, became a finalist for the 2018 RIDEAU Tour Award and winner of the 2016-17 Accès culture Award, thus performing more than 55 concerts across Quebec from 2016 to 2018. After exploring the music of Satie and Debussy, Cordâme continues its exploration of French composers with Maurice Ravel. Composer and double bass player, Jean Félix Mailloux, has composed pieces inspired by Ravel's impressionist universe and adapted several of his most famous pieces. At the crossroads of chamber music and jazz, Cordâme's music creates marvelous sound images representing imaginary landscapes of great beauty.
