L’Art Déco « hors les murs» ; les décors de théâtre et de cinéma (1910-1930)
Lectures

Event Description
Gilles Genty, art historian
Wishing to spread the new aesthetic more widely, painters and decorators were recruited very early on in France, as well as in Europe, to create sets for plays, ballets, and films; Paul Iribe, Georges Lepape, Robert Mallet-Stevens, Sonia Delaunay, Fernand Léger, and so many others, imagined interiors as modern as they were daring. Though often little is known about these creations due to films—with the exception of those of Abel Gance—having fallen into oblivion, these ephemeral works remain among some of the most successful of Art Deco.
