Moneka Arabic Jazz
Concerts
Event Description
A Celebration of Afro-Arabic Fusion
Moneka Arabic Jazz is a Toronto-based music project led by acclaimed Iraqi-Canadian singer and bandleader Ahmed Moneka. Drawing on his Afro-Sufi musical heritage, he creates a joyful, transcendent blend of African grooves and Arabic folk melodies, infused with contemporary funk, soul, and jazz.
Rooted in his journey from Baghdad to Toronto, Moneka's work reflects themes of exile, memory, and identity. His album Kanzafula received a 2025 Juno Award nomination - the first ever for an Iraqi artist in Canada.
