An Evening of Afro-Soul & Gospel
Originally from Benin, Carine au Micro came into her own as an artist through a formative period in France before settling in Montréal, where she made her mark with the Imani Gospel Singers and in the Mahalia Jackson musical. Her concert Doto N'ase (Listen Closely) brings together the softness of jazz, the depth of soul, and the power of gospel, gently woven with African rhythms and hip-hop influences. She sings in Mina, a dialect from Benin, which combined with her captivating voice creates a powerful and moving effect. An invitation to attentive, heartfelt listening.
On stage: Carine au Micro (vocals), Noel Mpiaza (drums), Dauphin Mbuyi (bass), Assane Seck (guitar), and David Mobio (keyboards)
