Music History: Maurice Ravel in Canada

Spadina Theatre Free

Event Description

A lecture by Susan Spier, musicologist and writer specializing in Canadian classical music

In 1928, Maurice Ravel set out on a four-month tour of North America. His time in Canada left a lasting mark: a triumphant recital at Toronto's Margaret Eaton Hall, and a visit to Niagara Falls in search of new inspiration. This talk explores the works he performed, the artists he met, and the places that shaped his journey — at the end of which he returned to France and wrote Boléro.

Presented in French
