A talk with French writer and philosoper Cynthia Fleury
As part of La Nuit des idées 2026, philosopher, psychoanalyst, and author Cynthia Fleury (The Clinic of Dignity) joins us for a conversation on the theme Opening the Way. This discussion will explore how art and care can shape new forms of individual and collective well-being, opening spaces for reflection, resilience, and social connection.
One of France’s leading public intellectuals, Cynthia Fleury is a philosopher, psychoanalyst, and professor at Sciences Po and the Conservatoire National des Arts et Métiers. Through her work, she explores questions of democracy, vulnerability, and resilience, while developing an ethics of care that extends to both individuals and institutions.
She is the author of several influential books, including La Fin du courage, Les Pathologies de la démocratie, and, more recently, Ci-gît l’amer, an exploration of resentment in contemporary society.
