In the off-season hush of Sokcho, a small South Korean seaside town, Soo-Ha's quiet life is upended by the arrival of a French graphic novelist in search of an ending for his next book. Through silence, drawing, and shared meals, a strange closeness settles between them - one that stirs questions about her identity, and the French father she never knew.
Adapted from Elisa Shua Dusapin's celebrated debut novel, Winter in Sokcho is the first feature by French-Japanese director Koya Kamura. A hushed film about inheritance, belonging, and the languages we use when words run out.
World premiere in the Platform Prize program at the 2024 Toronto International Film Festival
