Mad Men chez Molière
Compagnie Caravague & André Nerman
From 12 years old
"Molière was an observer of his time.
It accurately describes the men and women of the century of Louis XIV. Although rooted in their time, these characters have a universal dimension.
Are these men locked in their own ways, but also in their social positions, in their ambitions, their cowardice, their hypocrisies, their feelings, very different from those with whom we are surrounded today?
And do their man-to-man dialogues still resonate in 2020?
Molière wanted to make honest people laugh. We always laugh at what is recognized about us and our fellow human beings. Can we always recognize ourselves in these valets full of good sense, these bourgeois upstarts, these pedants, these cynics, these sickly miser, these hypochondriacs, these false devotees ... in their rivalries and their bickering?
Were these men of the great century so different from those of today?
Through the staging, while fully respecting the language of Molière, we will try to explore these dialogues in the context of our time. Mad men forever?"
