Book Club - Manman la mer
Once again this year, TfT and the Alliance Française de Toronto are offering a book club focused on theatre. This virtual meeting will be an opportunity to discuss and explore mythical scenes that have marked the world of theatre.
With Hadrien Volle, cultural mediator, we will try to understand the issues in the texts, discover their meanings and share our feelings about various recognized or emerging authors. Everyone is welcome to join the club, whether new to the art world or an experienced theater enthusiast, or simply seeking information and advice before seeing the play on stage. The only prerequisites are curiosity and the pleasure of sharing ideas on theatre… in French!
Tartuffe is one of Molière's most famous plays. Written in 1669, it is still relevant today because it highlights the figure of the 'false devotee', a person who claims to be a religious person and who ignores its fundamental values. We will discuss Act III, where Tartuffe appears on stage...
$5 per meeting or $30 for all meetings. Those fees do not include the books which must be purchased independently from the book club.
This activity is organized by Théâtre Français de Toronto. For more information please visit their website: http://theatrefrancais.com/en/bookclub/
