The group celebrated its 20 th anniversary in 2018.
Musicians: Gabriel Paquin-Buki, Matthieu Bourget, Mathieu Bourret, Maxime Philippe, Marilène Provencher-Leduc, Madeleine Doyon-Robitaille, Vanessa Marcoux, Laurianne Bellavance.
The Oktopus group is an instrumental octet that plays music from Eastern Europe that has been transfigured by their unbridled arrangements. With bows and keyboards, valves and embouchures, the eight musicians will quicken your pulse, ring some bells and get you into party mode. With music is full of joie de vivre, Oktopus travels around the world creating memorable evenings and celebratory events for enthusiastic audiences. Oktopus is a heterogeneous, in-your-face blend that straddles the melodies of Eastern Europe, the heritage of the great classical composers and the songs of Quebec in what might be called a Quebec classical-Balkan klezmer band. Oktopus is… in a word… spectentacular!
