OUR GRANDFATHERS WERE CHIEFS
Photo exhibition by Laurence Butet-Roch.
The approximately 850 residents of Aamjiwnaang, a First Nations reserve in Southern Ontario, are reminiscent of the indomitable Gauls, Astérix and Obélix. Living at the centre of an important petrochemical complex, they are determined to protect their ancestral lands; a haven for all resident species. Canadian photographer, Laurence has collaborated with Polka, a prestigious French Magazine. Back in Toronto, she is a member of the Boreal Collective, founded in 2010 in an effort to promote documentary photojournalism in Canada.
Exhibition dates: February 14 to March 8
