Intermediate - Parlons Art
Cultural course - Intermediate
Speak about main artisitic periods and enrich your vocabulary to describe an artwork. This French course for adults is available at the Spadina campus and online.
In this conversation course, you will practice and enrich your vocabulary in order to be at ease when describing an artistic work in French. The study of the main artistic periods (renaissance, realism, impressionism, cubism, surrealism, contemporary art, etc.) will allow you to acquire the language elements necessary to participate in a museum visit and describe an exhibited work that you have chosen beforehand.
Objective of the course:
- The session will end with a visit to the AGO where each participant will be invited to describe a work of their choice...in French!
- The price of the session does not include a ticket to the museum.
New students are invited to take a placement test before registering. Students can also take the certificate examination for the International French Diploma DELF (information available at your registration department or ask for more information from your teacher).
Intermediate - Canadian French
Cultural course - Intermediate
This course aims to improve the understanding of Canadian French.
By taking this course, learners will become more familiar with the different Canadian French accents, expressions and idioms they may encounter during their work or their travels.
The aim is to maximize exposure to the different sounds of Canadian French through oral documents such as excerpts from television and radio interviews, video and radio reports, television series and documentaries.
New students are invited to take a placement test before registering. Students can also take the certificate examination for the International French Diploma DELF (information available at your registration department or ask for more information from your teacher).
Advanced - French and Theatre
Cultural course - Advanced
Do you want to improve your eloquence and practice literature in French? This course is for you. Taught by a French teacher, author, and stage director.
Each course includes:
- Drama techniques: how to use your breath, pronunciation, eloquence, rhythm, and emotions
- Drama practice: Present a monologue by heart from classic or contemporary literature (1 min.): Musset, Pommerat, Molière, Mouawad, Feydeau, as well as Williams, Tchekhov, and Shakespeare.
Minimum proficiency: Advanced (B2.4+)
Courses are offered by Matthieu Mével, French teacher, author, and stage director.
New students are invited to take a placement test before registering.
Elementary - Literature A2

Read classic and contemporary French literary masterpieces. Books and themes change each season! This French course for adults is available at Campus Spadina.
- Study the author’s style and vocabulary;
- Analyze the character and plot development;

- Discuss the themes of your reading for the week.

Advanced - Literature B2
Literature course - Advanced
Read classic and contemporary masterpieces of French literature. Books and themes change every season. This French course for adults is available at the Spadina campus.
This dynamic and interactive course invites you to explore the depth and diversity of classical and contemporary French literature. At the rate of one or two books per session, you will visit the French parts of Canada, Africa, and Europe in a unique fashion. This will give you the satisfaction of knowing that the world of French literature, albeit complex and fear-inducing, is at the palm of your hand.
As a general rule, the first 50 pages of the book must be read a week before the start of the course.
Objectives of the course:
- Study the author’s use of vocabulary, their style and the effects of this style (technique)
- Study the characters and plot development
- Analyze the different semantic fields
- Discuss the themes of your assigned reading for the week

This course allows you to review and expand on essential French grammar rules while also discovering French literary works:
