The DALF (Diplôme Approfondi de Langue Française) is an official diploma awarded by the French Ministry of Education to certify the French competency of candidates outside of France.

Suited for: adults at an advanced level

The DALF is composed of four individual certificates that correspond with the four levels of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFRL).

Each exam is different from one another and candidates can register for the exam of their choosing. Each exam evaluates four communication skills: reading, listening, writing, and speaking.

An average grade of 50 out of 100 points for each part of the exam is required to obtain DALF C1 and C2 diplomas.

DALF C1

A person at the C1 level is independent and can express themselves fluently and spontaneously. They have a large vocabulary and can choose the appropriate words and expressions to share their ideas. They are able to give a clear and well structured statement without hesitation and have a good understanding of grammatical rules.

DALF C2

C2 candidates are experienced, precise, and speak fluently. They are capable of use French for academic and advanced-level purposes.
