DELF Tout Public is designed for:

• adults
• Teenagers aged 16 and older, outside a school setting
• Learners of French as a foreign language, regardless of background, goals, or learning context (personal, academic, or professional)

Exact schedules and details about exam duration will be sent to candidates by email before the exam.

All DELF exam evaluates the four main language skills:

• Listening
• Reading
• Writing
• Speaking

The exam follows the standard DELF structure, with topics and tasks adapted to candidates’ daily, academic, and professional contexts.

Group tests (listening, reading, writing):

• DELF A1: ~1 hour 20 min
• DELF A2: ~1 hour 40 min
• DELF B1: ~1 hour 55 min
• DELF B2: ~2 hours 30 min

Individual speaking test:

• DELF A1: ~10 min preparation + 5–7 min speaking
• DELF A2: ~10 min preparation + 6–8 min speaking
• DELF B1: ~10 min preparation + ~15 min speaking
• DELF B2: ~30 min preparation + ~20 min speaking

Please make yourself available the whole day, the speaking part will be before or after the group test, one after one.

Schedules will not be subject to change or negotiation. You will receive a notification around 2 weeks prior to the exam with the time for each part.

To pass and obtain the diploma, candidates must score at least 50/100 overall, with a minimum of 5/25 in each skill. Any score below 5 in a skill is failing.

The DELF Tout Public is offered at four levels: A1, A2, B1, and B2

• A1 (Beginner): Can communicate in simple daily and professional situations, exchange basic information, and use common polite expressions.
• A2 (Elementary): Can understand and participate in routine exchanges, and handle concrete personal or professional situations.
• B1 (Intermediate): Can manage everyday and professional situations, maintain interactions, give opinions, and understand the main points of clear speech
• B2 (Upper Intermediate): Can interact confidently and spontaneously, argue points of view, and self-correct errors.

If you’re unsure of your level, you can take an online self-assessment (Evalang). The cost of this assessment is $20 CAD

Exam fees, including administrative costs, are:

• A1: $200 CAD ($165 + $35 admin)
• A2: $200 CAD ($165 + $35 admin)
• B1: $280 CAD ($245 + $35 admin)
• B2: $320 CAD ($265 + $55 admin)

No. DELF Tout Public is only available in person at one of our exam centers in Toronto, North York, Mississauga, Markham, or Oakville.

Registration is done entirely online through the Alliance Française portal: Create an account.

For candidates under 18:

1. Create your parent account
2. Create your child’s profile (click Manage Family Member)
3. Select your child as a participant and complete registration

General steps: :

2. Answer the required questions. Check all information carefully—it will appear on the diploma
3. Pay if you want your diploma mailed

No. DELF Tout Public must be taken in full. The complete exam includes:

• Reading comprehension
• Listening comprehension
• Writing
• Speaking

You will receive an automatic receipt (not your exam invitation).

The official invitation will be sent by email roughly two weeks before the exam (check spam folders).

📌 The schedule on the invitation applies only to group tests. Candidates must be available all day for the speaking test.

Cancellations and transfers are only possible during the registration period. Requests after the deadline will not be accepted.

Administrative fees apply:

• A1 - B1: $30
• B2: $50

In case of illness, send an official medical certificate to your center. Candidates may register for the next available session and are responsible for checking available dates.

Check your registration confirmation carefully and report any mistakes before the exam. Changes cannot be made afterward.

If there’s an error on the diploma, reissuing it incurs a fee and may take several weeks.

• Exam invitation (printed or on phone)
• Valid photo ID (passport, driver’s license, student ID, or health card with photo)
  Health cards without a photo and birth certificates are not accepted
• Blue or black pen (no markers; pencils not allowed)
• Water bottle

Important:

• Mobile phones must be off and stored away
• No documents are allowed except the exam paper and draft sheet
• Cheating is reported to France Éducation International’s disciplinary board

For accommodations (extra time, specific assistance, etc.), contact the exam coordinator before registration closes and provide all required documentation.

Results are emailed roughly six weeks after the exam.

Each paper is graded by two certified examiners using standardized rubrics from France Éducation International. This ensures fairness and reliability. Results are final and cannot be appealed.

Review is possible within one year by appointment at the center where the exam was taken.

Only the candidate (or parents for minors) may review the paper. Photocopying, photographing, scanning, or note-taking is strictly prohibited. No extra information about grading can be provided.

Diplomas are printed in France and received at the exam center roughly four months after the exam.

To have the diploma mailed, payment must be made at registration.
