DELF Junior is designed for adolescents:

• aged 12 to 18
• enrolled in secondary school
• learning French as a foreign language, regardless of their program (standard French, French immersion, etc.)

• A1: Thursday, October 22
• A2: Wednesday, October 21

Exact schedules and details about exam duration will be sent to candidates by email before the exam.

Each DELF Junior exam evaluates the four language skills:

• Listening
• Reading
• Writing
• Speaking

The exam follows the same structure as the adult DELF, with topics, materials, and instructions adapted for a teenage audience.

Collective sessions (listening, reading, writing):

• DELF Junior A1: ~1 hour 20 min
• DELF Junior A2: ~1 hour 40 min
• DELF Junior B1: ~1 hour 55 min
• DELF Junior B2: ~2 hours 30 min

Individual session (speaking):

• DELF Junior A1: ~10 min preparation + 5–7 min speaking
• DELF Junior A2: ~10 min preparation + 6–8 min speaking
• DELF Junior B1: ~10 min preparation + ~15 min speaking
• DELF Junior B2: ~30 min preparation + ~20 min speaking

Please make yourself available the whole day, the speaking part will be before or after the group test, one after one.

Schedules will not be subject to change or negotiation. You will receive a notification around 2 weeks prior to the exam with the time for each part.

To receive the diploma, candidates must achieve at least 50/100 overall, with a minimum of 5/25 in each section. Any score below 5 in an individual section is failing.

DELF Junior has four levels: A1, A2, B1, and B2.

• A1 (Beginner): Candidates can communicate in simple, routine tasks, use polite expressions, and exchange basic information
• A2 (Elementary): Candidates can handle simple everyday tasks, use standard polite forms, and exchange basic information
• B1 (Intermediate): Candidates can manage typical situations in daily life, maintain interactions, discuss topics, and give their opinions
• B2 (Upper Intermediate): Candidates are comfortable and spontaneous in regular interactions and able to correct their own mistakes

If you’re unsure of your level, you can take an online placement test (Evalang, recommended from age 16). The evaluation costs $20 CAD.

Exam fees vary by level:

• A1: $200 CAD ($165 + $35 admin)
• A2: $200 CAD ($165 + $35 admin)
• B1: $280 CAD ($245 + $35 admin)
• B2: $320 CAD ($265 + $55 admin)

No. DELF Junior is only offered in person at one of our exam centers: Toronto, North York, Mississauga, Markham, or Oakville.

Registration is done entirely online through the Alliance Française portal: Create an account.

Steps for creating a child account:

1. Create your parent account
2. Create your child’s profile (click Manage Family Member)
3. Select your child as a participant and complete registration

1. Choose your level and exam center
2. Answer the required questions. Check all information carefully—it will appear on the diploma
3. Pay if you want your diploma mailed

No. DELF Junior must be taken in full. It is not possible to register for only certain parts.

The exam includes:

• Reading
• Listening
• Writing
• Speaking

You will receive an automatic receipt, which is not your exam admission.

The official exam invitation will be sent by email about two weeks before the exam (check spam/junk folders).

Cancellations and transfers are only possible during the registration period. Requests after the deadline will not be accepted.

Administrative fees apply:

• A1 - B1: $30
• B2: $50

In case of illness, send an official medical certificate to your exam center. You may register for the next available session. Candidates are responsible for re-registering and checking available dates.

Check your registration confirmation carefully and report any errors before the exam. No changes can be made after validation. Corrections on the diploma are possible but incur a fee and may take several weeks.

• Exam invitation (printed or on your phone)
• Valid photo ID (passport, driver’s license, student card, or health card with photo). Health cards without photo (children under 16) and birth certificates are not accepted
• Blue or black pen (no markers), correction fluid. Pencils are not allowed
• Water bottle

Important:

• Phones must be switched off and stored
• No materials are allowed except the exam copy and scratch paper provided
• Any cheating will be sanctioned by the France Éducation Internationale disciplinary board

For accommodations (extra time, specific aids, etc.), contact the exam coordinator at your center before registration closes, providing all necessary documents.

Results are emailed about six weeks after the exam. Each copy is graded by two certified examiners using standardized rubrics from France Éducation Internationale. Grades are final and cannot be changed.

Review is possible within one year of the exam at the exam center by appointment only. Only the candidate or their parents (for minors) may review the exam.

• No photocopies, photos, scans, or notes are allowed
• No additional information about examiner scoring can be provided

Diplomas, printed by the French National Printing Office, are received by the center about four months after the exam.

To receive your diploma by mail, payment must be made at registration.
