French courses for students in French immersion programs from Grade 2 to Grade 5.
These courses are reserved for elementary school students registered in a French immersion program. They are designed in accordance with Grade 2 to Grade 7 curricula for oral communication, reading and writing in French.
succeed in their French Immersion program
Improve student's command of oral and written French through activities tailored to the group’s need
Stimulate student’s interest in reading and writing French.
The teacher works closely with the students and aims to adapt curricular contents to learning environments. The methods used allow students to improve and refine their language and socio-cultural skills, since a language cannot be separated from the contexts in which one is called upon to think in French. Specifics abilities are introduced through role-playing, individual/ team projects (presentation, storytelling) or writing exercises with tales or stories. During this period, the class is organized as a group of learners. Our approach emphasizes imagination and adaptation to new situations and provides the opportunity to speak spontaneously in French. Grammar, vocabulary, language conventions (including rules of pronunciation and correction of common anglicisms ) are included in the second part of the course.
