S.T.E.A.M

EXPLORUM welcomes our campers this summer with workshops inspired by the S.T.E.A.M. method (science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics education), all while having fun in French!

Our young scientists will learn the principles of chemistry, biology, and physics in these workshops full of experiments and challenges. With some creativity, basic equipment, and team spirit, they will design and conduct their own scientific experiments. Offered at the Spadina, North York, Mississauga, and Oakville campuses.

COOKING

Little Kitchen Academy welcomes our little apprentice chefs into their kitchen. Inspired by the Montessori method, the chefs at LKA invite our campers to notice, develop, and refine their senses with local, organic, and seasonal crops.

From the ingredients to the dish, children are free to use their imagination and inspiration while discovering new dishes, food choices, recipes, the culinary arts, and the gastronomical universe. Each workshop allows participants to enjoy the fruits of their labour and discoveries…in French!

FILMING

''MAKING YOUR FIRST FILM''

Come explore the art of video creation! During the "Make Your First Film" camp, children will discover simple techniques and approaches to the mini-production of a short film!

Children will follow 4 main steps leading to the production of a short film: writing a story (script), preparing the shoot (making a set or costume), shooting (with a phone or small camera provided) and editing (in pairs or threes, on a software or a basic phone application).

Children will be invited to bring a cell phone with which they can film and edit. If this is not possible, cameras will be available as well as laptops. We look forward to seeing the up and coming filmmakers!

Your host : Le Labo is a francophone artist-run center in Toronto specializing in media and digital arts. Le Labo works alongside education professionals to ensure that young francophones and francophiles in Canada grasp the digital issues and key skills of tomorrow.
