Why supporting learning French as a second language?

Did you know?

Facts and figures about French as a second language in Canada.

  • Enrolment in French immersion schools has climbed 32 per cent in Ontario over five years.
  • Bilingual employees are paid 14% higher than unilingual employees in Canada

But in the meantime:

  • By the time students graduate high school, only 10 per cent achieve proficiency in French.
  • The share of Canadians able to hold a conversation in both official languages is in decline for the first time in 50 years.
  • Many families can not have access to French immersion programs by lack of spot in public schools.

French is an asset for the future of young Canadians.

Our actions

  • We invest the money we raise into French as a Second Language (FSL) programs with more than a century of experience to teach French in GTA.
  • Our teams work closely to ensure that every dollar is accounted for and then provide reports back to our donors.
  • Our teachers are all specialized in French as a second Language. We ensure our students the best practices to learn French, including cultural French immersion activities.
  • Moreover, each dollar you give is abounded by another dollar given by Alliance Francaise Toronto.
  • When we receive $ 650 donation, it allows us to receive a child for a complete school year FSL program (3-hour class every week)
  • When we receive $1500 donation, it allows us to receive a child for a complete French immersion art and recreational activities (3-hour class every day).
