Syrus Marcus Ware is a Black and trans visual artist, activist, and educator based in Toronto. Working across painting, installation, and performance, his practice is rooted in social justice, abolition, and Black activist culture. Co-founder of Black Lives Matter Canada and the Wildseed Centre for Art & Activism, and a professor at McMaster University, he is one of the most committed and distinctive voices in the Toronto art scene. His work has been featured twice at the Toronto Biennial of Art and at the Art Gallery of Ontario.
